Families of four would have to spend about sixty to eighty dollars to eat a modest dinner outside of the house.
But if you were to cook a comparable meal, you could feed the same number of people for less than half the price. If you are smart about how you shop, you can even cut that price by even half further.
Let me give you an example from myself when I went to the grocery store recently.
I went to Food 4 Less grocery store and bought two pounds of beef for about four dollars. I bought two bunches of spinach for just $1. I needed some cumin powder, cayenne pepper, and salt. If you consider me buying the whole thing, I'd spent $2.50 but with leftovers of course. In addition, I spent about 20 cents or so of oil on the meal.
WIth that, I had about a pound of brown rice that cost another buck.
Putting together a very easy concoction of spinach beef, I spent a total of less than $8.00 to feed four people. This meal would have cost $60 at the restaurant. Perhaps at the restaurant, I would have had a better variety of vegetables and sides and sauces but when money is tight, what can you do?
Therefore I suggest everybody to look for grocery stores in their area.
